N Korean officer defects to South

BBC- A North Korean soldier has defected to the South across the heavily fortified land border.

Officials in Seoul say this is the first defection of a North Korean officer in 10 years.

More than 12,000 North Koreans have fled to the South since the end of the Korean War, but they usually make the journey via China.
