RIYADH (Zawya Dow Jones)---Saudi Arabia's ruler, King Abdullah, has named Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz as the second deputy prime minister, the royal court said Friday in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.
As second deputy prime minister, Prince Nayef is now second in line to the throne, behind his full brother, Crown Prince Sultan.
The move clarified the issue of succession in the oil-rich monarchy, which has been ambiguous after the crown prince traveled abroad a few months ago to receive medical care.
