Why does the United States still segregate health insurance?

If you isolate people and only allow them to do businesses with approved isolated businesses, you have a monopoly... Why is segregation still legal in the United States?

States have power to regulate most medicine (except Abortion, alas). Many state legislatues have found that regulating medical companies, insurance etc. leads to a steady source of political donations.
